POSI Membership

Types of Membership:

1. Life Membership (Fees: Rs. 7,000/-)

Eligibility:

Any Orthopaedic surgeon who has obtained MCI (Medical Council of India) recognised post-graduate qualification in Orthopaedic Surgery and who is actively involved in the practice of Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and who has completed five years after post-graduate qualification, is eligible to apply for Life membership of POSI. The applicant should be duly proposed and seconded in the prescribed application form by the ‘Members’ of POSI.

Conferment:

On the General Body Meeting approving of the admission, the Secretary shall convey the decision of the General Body to the aspirant. The membership shall come into effect only after ratification in the General Body Meeting of the Society.

Membership applications close on 31st December every year. Applications received after this date will only be ratified in the subsequent AGM.

Rights & Privileges:

The member shall be entitled to:

  • Participate in all activities of the POSI
  • Constitute the Business/General Body together with the other “Members”.
  • Vote at a business meeting on any issue but particularly in matters pertaining to election of office bearers, accounts and financial matters, admission to membership, termination of membership, amendment to the Rules & Regulations, fixing of subscription etc.
  • Stand for election to the Executive Council (subject to the provisions of relevant articles).
  • Membership and privileges resulting from the affiliation of the POSI to various International Bodies.

2. Overseas Membership (Fees: Rs. 7,000/-)

Eligibility:

Any Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon practicing abroad, who is duly proposed and seconded by a “Member”, and after proper scrutiny of the proposal, is recommended by the executive Council and approved by the General Body shall, on payment of the prescribed dues, be admitted as an Overseas Member for life.

Conferment:

On the General Body Meeting approving of the admission, the Secretary shall convey the decision of the General Body to the aspirant. The membership shall come into effect only after ratification in the General Body Meeting of the Society.

Membership applications close on 31st December every year. Applications received after this date will only be ratified in the subsequent AGM.

Rights & Privileges:

An Overseas Member shall be entitled to:

  • Participate in all activities of the POSI
  • Constitute the Business/General Body together with the other Members.
  • Vote at a business meeting on any issue but particularly in matters pertaining to election of office bearers, accounts, financial matters, admission to memberships, amendment to the Rules & Regulations, fixing of subscriptions etc.
  • Membership and privileges resulting from the affiliation of POSI to various International Bodies.
  • However, an Overseas Member shall not be entitled to stand for election to the Executive council. Should an Overseas Member decide to settle in India, with proof of having become a Resident Indian, he / she will be admitted by the General Body to the Life Membership of the POSI. Appropriate subscription would be decided from time to time.

3. Associate Membership (Fees: Rs. 3,000/-)

Eligibility:

Any Orthopaedic surgeon in training at a recognized postgraduate institute OR professionals engaged in practice of allied subjects closely related to Paediatric Orthopaedics but not limited to Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Medicine, Orthotics & Prosthetics etc. may apply for Associate Membership of POSI.

Rights & Privileges:
  • Associates shall have the right of attending scientific meetings, business meetings and social events and engaging in all scientific discussions of the POSI, but shall not vote on any issue or participate in elections to the Executive Council.
  • Associates may apply for Life Membership of the POSI upon fulfilment of criteria for Life Membership.
  • Associate Members shall NOT be entitled to: Vote in Business Meeting or to stand for election to the Executive Council.

4. Upgrade from Associate to Life Member (Fees: Rs. 4,000/-)

Existing Associate Members may upgrade to Life Membership of the POSI upon fulfilment of criteria for Life Membership.
